UHMW materials provide exceptional durability, extremely low friction, and high impact resistance. Sheets and plates can be used as a surface material on structures made with steel, concrete and FRP.
FRP piles and wales are used for heavy-duty, energy-absorbing fender systems to protect bridge piers and waterway structures from vessel impacts. FRP’s relatively low stiffness and high strength are ideal for absorbing the energy without damage to either the vessel or the fender.
Modular fiberglass pedestrian bridges are strong and lightweight; allowing them to be installed inexpensively and efficiently on roads over streams, railroads or gulches. Light weight reduces transportation and installation costs.
Prefabricated FRP decking is 80% lighter than reinforced-concrete reducing dead load and simplifying installation. Design flexibility enables customization and inclusion of functional features such as non-slip surface, slope, drainage, curbs and railings.
Lightweight decking enables wider sidewalks when retrofitting existing bridges or attaching to historic, aging spans. This means safer sidewalks with the increasing pedestrian and bicycle usage.
FRP rail platforms significantly extend the life span of railway transit platforms with minimal maintenance. The light weight of the panels allows for fast installation that minimizes impact on train schedule.
FRP materials and products are used in a wide range of infrastructure applications. After a discussion of project requirements, feasibility and design concepts can be easily developed.
